Accelerating BMS Development for Electric Vehicles
T&S developed and integrated AUTOSAR-based BMS software for next-gen EV platforms across a France-Germany-Egypt team, under ISO 26262 ASIL-B and ASPICE (MBD, CANoe).
A major European automotive manufacturer partnered with T&S to support the development and integration of Battery Management System (BMS) software for next-generation electric vehicle platforms. The program combined AUTOSAR integration, Model-Based Design, software validation and Agile execution within an international setup spanning France, Germany and Egypt, aiming to secure reliable, scalable BMS software while accelerating integration for evolving architectures and new microcontroller generations.
Client context
The client needed to maintain and evolve a complex BMS software baseline while integrating third-party AUTOSAR stack updates and MCAL packages into an existing environment, coordinating with multiple software suppliers and managing change requests tied to evolving hardware and software. As the central control system of the battery, the BMS had to ensure battery safety, performance and reliability while complying with ISO 26262 ASIL-B and ASPICE, with distributed teams across countries and tools requiring strong synchronisation.
Business challenges
- Maintain and evolve a complex BMS software baseline
- Integrate third-party AUTOSAR stack updates and MCAL packages into an existing environment
- Coordinate multiple software suppliers and continuous change requests
- Ensure battery safety, performance and reliability under ISO 26262 ASIL-B and ASPICE
- Synchronise requirements, integration, testing and delivery across distributed international teams
The T&S solution
T&S deployed an end-to-end engineering organisation covering requirements management, software integration, Model-Based Design, testing and Agile coordination, with a distributed delivery model across France, Germany and Egypt. The teams managed BMS requirements through structured use-case decomposition and coordinated acceptance testing, with Agile governance via SCRUM ceremonies, shared backlogs and Jira ticketing. Software integration involved AUTOSAR stacks, MCAL packages, Vector components, Green Hills compiler and Jenkins CI, with automated testing in CANoe/CAPL. Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink, SCADE Suite) improved consistency between requirements, architecture and implementation while accelerating validation, all within a single distributed team with shared processes and scalable ramp-up.
