Over 20 months, T&S took a European contactless thermometer from concept to production-ready, covering system engineering, electronics, embedded software, mechanics and industrialisation (ISO 13485, IEC 62304).
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical-device industry faced unprecedented pressure to deliver reliable equipment quickly while meeting strict regulation. T&S supported the development of a European-made contactless thermometer with end-to-end engineering, from product design to industrial deployment. Over a 20-month program, T&S combined system engineering, electronics, embedded software, mechanical design and industrialisation support to deliver a fully production-ready medical device aligned with healthcare quality standards.
The client, a European medical-technology manufacturer, aimed to accelerate development of a contactless thermometer to meet demand for reliable non-invasive temperature measurement. Beyond product development, the challenge was to establish a complete industrial ecosystem supporting production ramp-up while ensuring compliance with medical regulations, requiring strong coordination between engineering, manufacturing, validation and quality-assurance teams within demanding timelines.
T&S provided full product-realisation services across the device lifecycle, combining system engineering, product design, electronics development, embedded software and industrialisation. The project began with system specification and architecture definition; mechanical teams designed the enclosure and internal assemblies in 3D CAD for usability and manufacturability. T&S managed electronic component selection, prototype realisation and embedded-software integration, accelerating hardware/software iteration. For industrial deployment, T&S set up flexible production capabilities (assembly, calibration and testing benches), used virtual-reality tools to study industrial layouts and optimise workflows, and supported MDR-aligned technical documentation.
The project highlights T&S's ability to support complex healthcare and industrial programs from concept to production readiness, combining engineering excellence with industrial scalability to rapidly deploy critical healthcare technologies.
