Mission
The Safety Engineer ensures that complex systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with industry regulations throughout their lifecycle. By identifying potential risks, assessing system failures, and defining mitigation strategies, they play a critical role in the development of safety-critical products and systems across industries such as automotive, aerospace, railway, energy, defense, and industrial automation.
Main Activities
- Analyze safety requirements and contribute to the definition of safety strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety analyses throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform reliability and safety studies such as FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA/CMA).
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, including Safety Plans, PSSA, SSA, and safety cases.
- Ensure traceability between safety requirements, system design, and verification activities.
- Support design reviews and provide safety recommendations to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and validation teams to ensure compliance with safety objectives.
- Participate in validation activities and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and reliability.
Technical Skills
- Functional safety engineering.
