In a demanding industrial environment, the creation of ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans) and QCDBs (Quality Control Data Books) is a critical contractual requirement. At Cryostar, these processes relied on complex Excel files and largely manual document compilation, leading to inefficiencies, error risks, and heavy dependence on subcontracting.
As part of a T&S engagement, one of our Lead Developers stepped in to address these challenges.
Following an in-depth analysis of existing workflows, our consultant identified the structural bottlenecks limiting productivity and quality. While off-the-shelf solutions were considered, they quickly proved inadequate:
- Up to €450,000 over 5 years for a comprehensive PLM suite
- Over €255,000 over 5 years for a specialized document management solution
Both options also implied long-term dependency on vendor ecosystems.
Rather than forcing a generic solution, our T&S expert designed a tailored approach. He rapidly developed and presented a functional proof of concept, demonstrating that a lean, custom-built platform could outperform existing alternatives.
The Solution: SIRIUS, designed and delivered by T&S
Developed in agile mode by our T&S consultant in close collaboration with Cryostar’s business teams, SIRIUS is built on a modern open-source stack (Python, Docker, Kubernetes). The objective was clear: restore autonomy, reliability, and performance to quality processes.
The impact was immediate:
- Generation of a 1,000-page ITP in just 30 seconds
- Compilation of a 5,000-page QCDB in 10 minutes
- Estimated 80% reduction in errors
- Approximately €255,000 saved over 5 years
- Zero licensing costs and complete independence from software vendors
