Mission
The COBOL Developer designs, develops, maintains, and modernizes business-critical applications built on mainframe environments. They play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of legacy systems that support essential business operations in sectors such as banking, insurance, finance, transportation, and public services.
Main Activities
- Analyze business and technical requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications.
- Perform corrective, adaptive, and evolutionary maintenance on existing systems.
- Design and implement new functionalities within mainframe environments.
- Manage batch processing and transaction-based applications.
- Conduct testing, debugging, and performance optimization activities.
- Support production environments and troubleshoot operational incidents.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project teams, and infrastructure specialists to ensure system reliability and continuity.
Technical Skills
- COBOL programming.
- Mainframe environments (IBM z/OS).
- JCL (Job Control Language).
